The Ministry Health review

Ministry Health is a written snapshot of the whole ministry for a period, with a comparison against the period before it.

5 minute read

Ministry Health is the whole-ministry view: how healthy is the ministry right now, and versus last period?

Where Responder Reviews looks at one person, this one looks at everything at once, and its most useful half is the comparison: what changed since last time.

How a narrative review is different

The eleven insight reports are computed the moment you run them. These three are written. Echo Analyst reads the period and produces prose , what is going well, what to work on, what changed.

Three practical consequences:

  • It takes a while. The page shows its progress and updates itself when the writing is done. You can leave it.
  • It is kept. Each one is saved, so you can put this month's next to last month's. They are listed on the report's own page.
  • The numbers are not opinions. The charts and figures are computed the same way as everywhere else in Echo Analyst. It is the prose around them that is written.

Creating one

  1. Open EchoAnalyst, then Ministry Health.
  2. Set the period you want reviewed.
  3. Choose Generate Report, and wait. It updates itself when the writing is done.

Previous reports are listed under Recent Reports. If one fails, Retry writes it again over the same period.

What the review covers

A period summary and a pulse, then the decision funnel and a comparison against the period before. Alerts and governance. Which parts of the Gospel are being shared. Scripture, prayer and the barriers seekers brought. Responder performance and the score distribution. Where seekers are converting, and where outcomes line up with what your ministry says it is for. It closes on leadership actions and the resources behind them.

What the measurements mean

Ministry Health reads the same measures as the insight reports, across everything at once, and sets them beside the period before.

The 1–5 scale

Every skill score in Echo Analyst uses the same five points, and the wording matters. This is not a school grade where 5 is the target.

ScoreWhat it meansHow often
1Harmful, real harm or a protocol violation, such as missing a crisis or a doctrinal errorRare
2Below standard, a coachable weaknessUncommon
3Met the minimum, acceptable, with clear room to growLess common
4Doing a good job, the expected baseline for someone doing the work wellMost common
5Exceptional, training-example quality, and it requires specific cited evidenceRare

4 is the target, not 5. A team averaging 4 is doing the job well. A 5 has to be earned with evidence, so a page full of 5s would be a scoring fault rather than a triumph.

Two rules change how the number comes out. A 1 in any single skill caps the whole conversation's overall score, real harm is not averaged away by nine good things. And three skills return nothing at all when they do not apply: crisis sensitivity when there was no crisis, grace-filled truth when no hard truth was needed, and minors handling when no minor was involved. A blank is "not applicable", never zero.

What it measures

MeasureWhat it isHow it is worked out
The decision funnelConversations, Gospel shared, actions, professions. The same six actions the Harvest report counts.
Spiritual movementMinistry-wide.Share of assessed conversations in the top two movement buckets.
Score distributionThe spread of conversation quality. How many conversations at each of the five points, rather than one average.
Gospel completenessHow much of the Gospel is actually being shared.Measured over evangelistic conversations only. Those where at least one element appeared.
Alerts and governanceWhat was flagged.By priority tier, with the actionable ones separated.
Responder performanceHow the team is doing.Skill scores across the roster.

Spiritual movement

The measure that appears on more Echo Analyst pages than any other. Each analyzed conversation is placed in one of five buckets:

  • Significant movement toward God
  • Slight movement toward
  • No change
  • Slight movement away
  • Significant movement away

Where a report shows a single movement percentage, it is the share of conversations in the top two buckets, significant plus slight movement toward. "No change" is not counted as positive.

The denominator is conversations where movement was actually assessed, not every conversation in the group. A conversation nobody could read either way is left out rather than counted as no change, so the rate is not quietly deflated by conversations that were never a fair test.

What the comparison compares

Against the immediately preceding period of the same length. A fortnight compares against a fortnight, so a short review moves around far more than a quarterly one.

It reads analyzed conversations only. It does not see the people your team met in person, the follow-up done by phone, or a seeker who found a church and never came back. A number falling is a question to ask, not an answer.

Reading it honestly

The comparison is against the immediately preceding period of the same length. A short period compares against a short one, so a fortnight's review will move around more than a quarter's.

Ministry Health reads analyzed conversations. It does not see the people your team met in person, the follow-up someone did by phone, or a seeker who found a church and never came back. A number falling is a question to ask, not an answer.

If it will not generate

A review needs analyzed conversations in the range. Only closed conversations that had enough back-and-forth are analyzed, so a quiet period, or one where most conversations are still open, may not have enough to write about.

The controls for narrowing what a report covers are described in Getting started with Echo Analyst.

  1. Getting started with Echo Analyst

Echo Analyst turns the conversations your team has already had into fourteen reports. What it is, what it costs, how to switch it on, and how to run any report.
